it picks up on filler really well. checked a car that looked clean visually and the gauge flagged two spots on the rear quarter panel with noticeably higher readings. pulled the listing photos up again and sure enough there was a shadow in the right light. this thing pays for itself.
Very pleased with this. Readings are consistent and it feels well made. Exactly what I needed for checking panels before purchasing.
Does what it says. No complaints from me at all, been using it since I got it and no problems 💯.
works fine on curved panels too, which is something I never even thought to check before buying. my old gauge would go haywire on anything that wasn't perfectly flat. this one handles door curves and fenders without throwing random numbers at me.
the display is easy to read in direct sunlight which matters a lot when you're outside at a lot or a private seller's driveway. numbers are big and clear, no squinting or tilting the screen to see what it says.
I was worried about build quality after getting burned by a cheap one before, but this feels solid in the hand and the probe tip seems durable. been using it on a bunch of inspections and it hasn't let me down yet.
Saved me from buying a car with hidden body damage. Checked it over thoroughly before signing anything and found repainted sections the seller never mentioned. Worth every penny.
what I appreciate most is that it automatically detects whether the surface is steel or aluminum and adjusts accordingly. you don't have to manually switch modes, just press it to the panel and you get a clean reading. makes going around a whole car really fast.
really handy little tool.
the tip placement is satisfying, like you can feel when you've got a solid contact with the surface. some gauges feel sloppy and you're never sure if you're getting a real measurement. this one has a firmness to it that makes you trust the number on screen.
