the I/M readiness screen breaks down each monitor individually, so you can see which ones are complete and which ones are still running. makes it really easy to know if the car is actually ready for emissions or if you need to drive it a bit more first.
does exactly what I need it to do.
Really happy with this. Clears codes fast and the screen is easy to read in a parking lot.
the reset function works cleanly. clear the code, it confirms it, and the check engine light goes off. then you can monitor the readiness status as the car runs its drive cycle. really helpful for knowing when everything has reset properly after a repair.
what I like is that it reads both generic OBD2 codes and the manufacturer-specific ones. pulled a pending code on my truck that a cheaper reader completely missed. the freeze frame data shows up too which helps figure out what conditions triggered the fault.
I keep this in my glovebox and it has come in handy more than once. Simple to use and the readiness monitors give me confidence before heading to inspection.
told my coworker to grab one of these because she was nervous about buying a scanner online after getting burned by one that only worked on newer cars. she has a 2005 Honda and it read her codes no problem. she was happy with it right away.
the Mode 6 data on this thing is genuinely useful. it shows the actual test values and the limits side by side so you can see how close a sensor is to failing, not just whether it passed or failed. I didn't expect that level of detail at this price.
Every time I've used it, it connects within a few seconds and pulls up the info I need. No fuss, no fumbling around. My neighbor borrowed it last week and ended up ordering his own copy.
I was worried it would only clear codes without actually showing whether the monitors were ready, but the I/M readiness display is right there and easy to read. saved me a wasted trip to the inspection lane.
